Crossfit Oak Ridge – “Mustang Fitness”
Our mission is to create and inspire a community where families and individuals can work together to build a lifetime of fitness, good nutrition and athletic achievement.
What is Crossfit?
CrossFit is about utilizing your fitness training to benefit your daily life. Crossfit teaches you about proper nutrition, power & strength, techniques, balance & agility and overall wellness. Whether your fitness goals include sports-specific training,Triathlon training, weight management, keeping in shape or just doing it for fun, Crossfit can benefit you.
CrossFit combines both strength and conditioning into a program that is based on constantly varied functional movements executed at high intensity. By developing a strong, balanced, and efficient athletic base sport-specific training becomes more effective. Regardless of the sport you are competing in, Crossfit will help you gain strength, added flexibility and power, and help you to recover more quickly while increasing overall athleticism.
The full range fundamental exercises utilized in CrossFit programming are effective because they translate into movements performed in everyday life not simply athletics. The movements often expose old injuries and compensations through strengthening the “unstable shoulder” and “bad knee” and helps to rehabilitate and strengthen those areas.
Crossfit’s techniques and programs are designed for all ages and strength levels. You don’t have to be a body builder or super athlete to participate in a Crossfit program. We scale the workouts to your ability and monitor your progress.
Crossfit’s techniques can also help with fall prevention and provide the reduction of osteoporosis making this an excellent program for aging adults that want to keep more flexible, agile and strong.
CrossFit training will get you moving the way nature intended and improve your overall health.
Greg Glassman is the founder of Crossfit and best describes it this way:
“People’s needs differ by degree not kind. Olympic athletes and our grandparents both need to fulfill their potentials for cardiorespiratory endurance, stamina, strength, flexibility, speed, power, coordination, accuracy, balance, and agility. One is looking for functional dominance the other for functional competence. Competence and dominance manifest and optimize through identical physiological mechanisms. We scale our program by altering rest, load, intensity, etc. while utilizing the same tools (exercises) for everyone whenever possible.”
